THE MOUNT EDEN CLUB. WORK DURING PAST SEASON. The tenth annual meeting: of the Mount Eden Amateur Swimming Club was held in the Mount Eden Fire Station last evening, Mr. C. li. Surman presiding over a larjco attendances of members. The annual report stated that a. fairly successful season was experienced by the club. The membership showed a largo increase over the previous .season, the number of declared members on the roll being I'M. niado lip as follows: —30 seniors, 88 juniors and 40 ladies. In addition there are '2O associate members, making a grand total oi 190, as against ISS last year. The most prominent member was acain 11. de Loree, club captain, who won the club's three cups | competed for annually, namely, the Weslon , Cup, '22oyds., Cucksey Cup, Itoyds., Brewer ( Cup, 880 yds., and many other trophies. ( During the season 100 school swimming certificates were issued to the Kowbai Junior High School, and 72 to tho Mount Eden ( school, making a total of 178. Tho balance-sheet and financial statements showed a. small credit of_ Jour shillings ( Taking everything into consideration during j the season, tho club is in a good financial ( position. . . , Tho chairman said that owing to unfavourable weather only two carnivals were i held during the season, as ac.ainst three tho ] previous season. Under the circumstances < tho club had done exceedingly weil to show i a small credit. He made reference to the ] death of the late Mr. T. O. Tyzack. who was , for several years a vice-preßident of tno club Mr. Tyzack, he added, had always been a staunch supporter of the club. Welcoming several ladie* i who were present, tho chairman said the t number of the lady members was the most < the club ever had, and he expressed the hope ! that more would join up. ' On behalf of the Helensville Club the < chairman presented a medal to Mr. R. de { Loree, who had won the river race at ■ Helensville. In congratulating the successful swimmer, Mr. Surman said club members had visited Helensville on three occasions < during the season, and the successful swim- i mers had not accepted trophies. It was decided to make representations to the Borough Council to have Thursday for , club nights, the club to donate five shillings : toward tho cost of lighting. Two ex-members of the committee. Frankharn: lady captain, Miss R Buckingham; handicapper, Mr. H. Moore. The chairman drew attention to a loan, proposal to bo issued shortly by tho Borough Council for the purpose of installing a sterilising and heating plant at the baths. Ho said it behoved all members to do their best to have tho loan carried, as extra swimming facilities would then bo available.
