POINT CHEVALIER BATHS.
PETITIONS AGAINST SCHEME. "Wo object to Dixieland, Ltd., being allowed to build baths on any sito at Point Chevalier," said Mr. 11. Schmidt yesterday in explaining the purport of two petitions, one to be forwarded to the Prime Minister, Mr. Coates, and the nnher to Mr. M. J. Coyle, for presentation to the City Council. Each petition carries over 300 signatures. Thai to the Prime Minister protests against the granting to Dixieland, Ltd., of a permit to build baths in front of the cabaret. Objection is taken to the building of any baths where girls can conveniently go from the dance hall to the baths, or vice versa, in bathing attire. The petition asks that the permit be rescinded. The petition to Mr. Coylo protests against permission being given for the building of baths on any portion of the sandy beach that will obstruct the passage'of pedestrians around the foreshore.
