The prisoner Thomas Lowry, who escaped from tho Wi Tako prison, TronIham, on August 29, and was recaptured on Friday, said his escape was unpremeditated. It was done on the impulse of the moment, he told the magistrate in the Police Court to-day. Ho had a chance of escape and he took it. He was going out on a working party and complained of sore feet, and was given the privilege of taking a short cut. The bush was handy and he took to itWhile at large he committed a burglary for food and clothing. Lowry will now serve an additional three months' imprisonment.
