COLLISION WITH TRAIN.

"The. bell at the Victoria Street railway crossing is inadequate, fur drivers of motor vehicles cannot hear it until they aro close up to the crossing," said Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., in the Hamilton Magistrate's Court to-day, when fining William I'ryse Jenkins, milk vendor, Hamilton, 10s on each of two counts, for failing to stop when the line was engaged and failing to keep a proper lookout when approaching the crossing. Mr. N. S. Johnson, in pleading guilty on defendant's behalf, said on the morning of the accident in which defendant ■was involved the weather was very stormy and rain fell heavily. Defendant did not hear the bell at Iho Victoria Street crossjng on account of the wind and could riot sec the crossing-keeper owing to tho rain obscuring his vision. The train struck the rear pa To of h'.s vehicle and did considerable damage.
