[from our own correspondent.] LONDON, Sept. .7. Sir James Parr is duo from Geneva day to take part in the Cap Lain Cook Bicentenary celebration at Middlesbrough.. The High Commissioner was unablo to attend a special thanksgiving service at St.-Martin-in-tho-Fields on August 27, to mark the signing of the Renunciation of War Pact. Sir James was present at tho actual, signing of the pact in Paris. At his request Mr. Justice A. L. Herdiiian represented New Zealand, with Miss Herctman. The Earl and Countess of Orford, with their daughter, Lady Anno Walpole, left Southampton on September 4 by the Rualiino for New Zealand. Other passengers by the Ruahino included the New Zealand Olympic team and two Sisters of tlio Order of St, Elizabeth, who are going out. to the hospital in Christ,church. The Olvmpic team went off from Waterloo in tlio best of health and spirits. Among those present to bid Mr. Ani,os and Ins party bon voyage wore Dr. A. E. Porritt, Mr. 1:1. M. Abrahams (the well-known athlete), Mr. C. J. 'Wray, and Mr. Balfour {representing the High Commissioner for New Zealand). Now that the musical piny Marjolaine" has concluded its run at the Gaiety Theatre. Mr. Robert Geddes (Auckland), who had the lead, has gone to the United States. He left London at the beginning of this week. The Rev. George Frost, Mrs. and Miss Frost (Gisborne), left for New Zealand by the Ruahine this week. Tho Rev. E. 11. Shore lately vicar of Governor's Bay, has been appointed vicar of St. Gluvias with Penryn, Cornwall. The patron of the living is the Bishop of Truro. Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Kelliher (Remuera) aro in France. They have been motoring through the northern part of that country and have visited the battlefield area. They were at Ypres during tho time ol the "recent pilgrimage. Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Bell, formerly of Auckland, who now reside in London, have booked their passages by the Taniaroa, to leave England on November 9. Mr. Bell is going to New Zealand on a business trip. Mr. G. H, Bassant (Auckland) came to London recently. The illness of his mother was the reason for his journey, but unfortunately he arrived too lata to seo her alive.
