AVIATION RECORDS.

NEW BRITISH ATTEMPTS. I GREAT ENDURANCE TESTS. British Wireless. RUGBY, Oct. 5. British airmcrt arc to make attempts to establish two new records in addition to (lie bid for the speed record which FlightLieutenant David d'Avcy Greig is waiting to make at Southampton. The Royal Air Force is preparing for two endurance flights. One of theso is to be a non-stop flight of 6000 miles from Capetown to London. Tho other is an attempt to fly around England for three days and nights. The longest non-stop flight yet made has not reached 4000 miles. Tho pilot for both attempts will be Squadron-Leader Jones-Williams, who was selected after Squadron-Leader J. Noakes was incapacitated by accident. JonesWilliams will have as navigator FlightLieutcnant Major. The attempt to make a three days flight around England will be made first, and a special Fairy-Napier monoplane has been under construction for some months and is now ready. The main considerations are to produce a machine capable of carrying a big load and an engine that will consume a minimum amount of petrol and oil. It is understood that in less than a. fortnight this machino will be at the disposal of Jones-Williams and his colleagues.. If this attempt is satisfactory, the flight, from the Cape to London will then bo nt.temnted.
