TAKAPUNA CROQUET CLUB.

The Takapuna Croquet Club opened on Saturday afternoon and a very enjoyable reception was given by tho president, Mrs. Cutler, and other members of tho club. In tho bright sunshine the lawns appeared most attractive and their excellent condition enabled tho large number of players present to enter for many enjoyable games. The winners of these were:—A. grade, Mrs. A. White, and B grade, Mr. A. Allen. Tho president welcomed tho members and then declared tho lawps opened for play. Mrs. Julius Williamson, Mayoress of Takapuna, played the first ball. Afternoon tea was served in tho club pavilion, where the decorations were most effective. Yellow and white poppies wero artistically arranged on the tables and overhead miniature aeroplanes wore suspended from tho ceiling.
