OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TIMARU. Saturday. Tho Kiccarton trainer F. P. Claridgo had a field day at Kurow to-day. He took four horses to tho meeting and won with each of them. Mimo opened tho ball in the hurdle race, in which he beat his two opponents very easily. Beau Cento outstayed tho opposition in tho Ifukataramea Handicap. Page Boy bad no troublo in tho Novice Plato, but there was an inquiry as to his right to start, the stake and totalisator money being impounded pending a ruling by tho Raoing Conference. Pago Boy startod again later in tho day with a 71b penalty, finishing third in tho Publicans' Handicap. Thorndule, tho fonrlh member of Claridge's team, annexed tho Kurow Cup after a good performance. Tho three fl« (< racers were ridden by C. Emerson, while, tho hurdler was piloted by F. G. Smith, » recent arrival from Australia, who has only recently obtained bis jockey's licence. Beau Gesto won tho Hakataramea Handicap in very attractive style, drawing right away over tho last furlong. He ran the mile out well and ho should experience no difliculty about getting a longer journey. His New Zealand Cup engagement has been continued and his light weight may carry him on a long way. , Xhorndalo followed up his Geraldine success by winning tho Kurow Cup. He was not hurried from the barrier, but ho was very keen to gallop and at tho end of a furlong ho pulled his way into second place, giving C. Emerson a hard task to prevent him rushing to the front. N earing the straight ho was given his head and auiekly took charge. Lucy Locket threw out a strong challenge in- the final furlong, but Thorndalo only t had to be shaken up to stnil her off. Now that ho has struck form Thorndalo should win more races. Ho is not up to th 3 best company, but in his own class a bit of weight does nut trouble him. Pago Boy showed smart form in his two races. He was always well placed in tho Novice Plate and outclassed tho opposition in the run home. Later in tho day ho finished third to Tripaway and Royal Tractor in tho Publicans' Handicap. This was another good effort, as ho lost a lot of ground nt tho start. Tripaway was responsible for two attractive performances. She jumped out smartly in tho Publicans' Handicap, but was steadied, and after following Royal Tractor to the straight, drew away to win without an effort. With an interval of one race she cam* out again in tho Belfield Handicap with a 71b penalty. Again she was not bustled until the straight was reached, but when given her head she settled the opposition in a few strides.. Tripaway showed r lot of speed as a youngster and now she looks like fulfilling her early promise. Sho is engaged in the Electric Handicap at tho Dunedin meeting and has been nominated for the Stewards' Handicap at Riccarton. DUNEDIN REIIANDICAPS; [BY TELEGRATO—FRESS ASSOCIATION.] TIMARU, Sunday.
