'AUCKLAND SPRING MEETING RESULTS ON OPENING DAY. I LAUGHING PRINCE WINS THE CUP THE GUINEAS TO PRODICE. 'AN UNFORTUNATE CONCLUSION. The. Auckland Racing Club's Spring fleeting opened on Saturday, and with tho sun shining brightly everything pointed to a most enjoyable day at Ellcrs]ie. An unfortunate incident, which will tin found fully related in another column, and which led to tho postponement of tho three remaining races, widely dispelled the expectations of tlie pleasant day at the racecourse. The totalisator investments in connection with the five events which were run off amounted to £33,054 10s. Comjpared with the sum handled on five first races of the programme last spring this rcprosentJi a decrease of £7534.
