ORPHANS' CLUBS.
AUCKLAND SESSION CLOSES. Tho final meeting of the 1928 session of tho Auckland Orphans' Club was held in Scots Hall on Saturday evening. The president, Mr. J. B. Johnston, presided over a large attendance. Fraternal messages were read from the Devonport, Birkenhead-Northcote, Hamilton and To Awamutu Orphans' Clubs. The chairman conveyed the club s thanks to Mr. Harold Baxter, the conductor of tho orchestra, Mr. H. Sommerville, leader, Mr. W. D'Authreau, librarian, and the members of the orchestra; to tho various performers who assisted during .the season, and the theatre managements; to Messrs. Cyril Towsey, T. Sparling, and W. Dingle, lion, pianists; Messrs. J. D. Crawford, secretary; D. W. Dunlop, treasurer; and Percy Howden, assistant-secretary; and the stewards. Tho chairman said the effort in recognition of the services of the late Mr. G. F. Cater, who had conducted the club's orchestra for several years, had produced £2OO, and Mrs. Cater had conveyed appreciation of the gift.
