MAIN SOUTH ROAD.
IMPROVEMENT AT HUNTLY. EXPENDITURE OF £IO,OOO. [by telegraph.—ovrx correspondent.] HAMILTON. Friday. Authority has been given by the Main Highways Board for the expenditure of £IO,OOO in remetailling and bituminous sealing by penetration the portion of the Main South Road in the Huntly Town Board's district. The length of road to be treated is nearly four miles. For a distance of 26 chains 18ft. in the business area of the town, it is proposed to lay the road down in bitumen to a width of 33ft., while tho balance of the four-mile length will be bitummised to a width of 18ft. A loan for the work was recently raised by the Huntly Town Board, whose proportion of the cost will be subsidised by the Main Highways Board on the basis of £3 for £l. The work will be commenced next week.
