MISHAPS IN THE BUSH.
LONG RIDE TO HOSPITAL.

Owing to their axes slipping when they were felling trees, two bushmen were admitted to the Whangarei Hospital this morning, where they were both operated upon.
Mr. Henry Allan, aged 40, was bushfelling at Helena Bay when his axo cut the shin of his right, leg. He -was alone at the time, but he bandaged the wound £tlid applied disinfectants, and rode 35 miles to hospital. He is progressing well. When felling trees in the Taipuha bush yesterday afternoon, Mr. James Kerr, aged 47, of Kamo, cut the big toe of his right foot right to the joint. As the result of an operation it is hoped to save the toe.
