DREAD OF CANCER.
Dread of cancer—which a doctor had said to be unfounded—was suggested as a reason for Bernard Douglas Day, aged 44, cutting his throat near his car on Wisley Common near Ripley, Surrey, recently. He was a member of a firm of builders. A brother said that a relative had died from cancer of the throat, and Mr. Day had often said he believed he had that complaint. Another brother took him to a doctor, who said that was not the trouble. All Mr. Day's financial affairs wero in order, but ho had been in bad health for some time. A verdicfc of suicide while temporarily insane was returned.
