HOUSES SAVE BABY.
DESERTION BY MOTHER. How two farm horses sensed the presence of a deserted child in a wood and thus saved Us life was described at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on June 13, when tlio mother, a middle-aged domestic servant, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment for deserting her sixteen days' old son, thereby endangering his life. It was stated that. the woman feared that she would lose her employment if the baby's existence were discovered. 1 lie Procurator-Fiscal stated that the woman went out at night and placed the child at the loot of a tree in a very dense plantation. Its only covering was a shawl. The following afternoon a farmer was working beside the plantation with a pair of horses. Every time they came to the plantation they became restive, until finally the farmer could hardly turn them. The farmer's wife and two men entered the wood, and found the child Availing feebly. It was blue with cold, but was still alive, and had now recovered.,
