MONDAY NIGHT'S CONTEST. KEEN INTEREST DISPLAYED. The professional boxing match, which is to be staged by the Northern Boxing Association on Monday evening, between Lochie McDonald, of Dunedin, and tho Scottish middle-weight, Tommy Mclnnes, will be for a special purse of £2OO. The bout will be fought over 15 rounds in tho Town Hall. Both men have been training solidly and are showing excellent form. Great interest is being taken in this contest, as when McDonald fought Broadfoot here at the end of last year his fighting style appealed very much to followers of boxing. While in Australia McDonald added considerably to his reputation by defeating a number of leading boxers. Mclnnes fights hard from gong to gong, and made a name for himself in Australia for his gameness to go in and fight. Four amateur bouts will precedo the big light. Tho Auckland professional featherweight, Matt Hatton, and his trainer, Mr. Henry Donovan, have returned to Auckland. The Aucklander drew with Archie Hughes, of Australia, after going the full 15 rounds of a match at Napier. Mr. Donovan, commenting on tho fight, says that Hughes appeared to be very anxious to win. even at tho expense of being over-weight more than half a stone. Hughes stated before the fight he was in much better condition than when he met Leckie four days after coming off the boa t.
