STONEMASONS' AWARD.
NFEVI/ CONDITIONS SOUGHT. 'An increase in wages, amended classification of workers and a five-day workbig week of 40 hours are the principal ilaims for the new award sought by the Auckland stonemasons and monumental Workers, whoso case will be heard before She Conciliation Commissioner, Mr. P. Rally, on Monday. The assessors for ihe employees will he Messrs. J. Dunlop, K. G. Stalev, W. Yennall and J. Puriell (agent). The former award, which expired on lnlv 26, provided for rates of pay and classification of workers 011 a different toale from those now sought. The existing rates for building masons are 2s 4UI in hour, monumental masons receiving Js 3d, head fixers and polishers, 2s, and Polishers and other workers 3s lOd. The icw claims are 4s 3d an hour for carvers, 5-i 6d for stonemasons and letter cutters 5 s 3d for polishers and cemetery hands,- 3s for assistant, cemetery hands and saw tenders, 2s 9d for yardmen, and 2s 6d !or ; yardmen with less than six months' ircperience.
A further claim is for (ho inclusion if Anzac Day, Picnic Dnv and' the four 3iys between Boxing Day and New i'car's Dav as additional holidays.
