A few friends organised a surprise party to Mrs. Ken. Rickit on Wednesday afternoon. In a short time, the tables were arranged for bridge in living room and play %vas most enthusiastic throughout the afternoon. The prizes went to Mrs. Jeffreys with the highest score, and to Mrs. Bowden the consolation. Those present were:—Mesdames Lord, Dawson, Hall, Bowden, Brooks, Armstrong, Downes, Jeffreys, Dunn, S. Rickit, H. Mandeno, J. McGovern, Griffith, Hawkins, Lane, Reece, and Misses Teasdale, Elliott, Empson, Lord and Walter. Afternoon Tea. i. A most enjoyable afternoon party was £i\en by Miss Erina Ward, of Claudeiands, on Thursday in honour of her guest, Miss Adelaide Hare, of .Feilding. An amusing "cat" competition kept tilings merry until afternoon tea-time, the winner of it being Miss Freena Clay-ton-Greene. After tea another competition w*as won by Miss Dorothy Wilson. Miss Ward received her guests in a frock of moss green panne. Miss Hare wearing black ring velvet. Those present included:—Miss D. Yule, Miss H. Heywood, Miss M. Clayton-Greene, Miss I). Wilson, Miss F. Clayton-Greene, Miss C. Chittv, Miss K. Oliver, Miss B. Manning, Miss K. Wilson, Miss E. Guy. Personal. Mrs. D. Hay has returned to Hamilton after some months spent in Auckland. Mrs. Woolley, of Whangarei, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. H. Griffiths, of Claudelands. Miss T. Ring is in Hamilton at present, where she is staying with her sister, Mrs. A. J. Bond. Mrs. Robertson Smith, of Singapore, who is on a year's holiday to New Zealand, is the guest of Mrs. A. L. Yule, of i Claudelands. , . Miss 0. Smith, of Taumarunui, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Cyril Sutcliffo. Mrs. and Miss Ross, of Palmerston North, are visiting Hamilton. Miss Norrish, ot Hamilton, is visiting Auckland. , Mrs. W. King is visiting relatives m Wellington. Miss F. Peacocke has returned from a holiday in Napier. . Mrs. E. H. Marsurt. of Wellington, is staving at the Grand Central. Mrs. F. Mneky, of Auckland, is the guest of her mother, Mrs. J. Taylor, of Cambridge.
