THE GRAND PRIX.
PARADE OF FASHION. BY NELLIE M. SCANLAN. VIENNA, June 10. At the famous race meeting at which the Grand Prix was run in Vienna last Sunday there were a number of smart race frocks, the type one sees at Ascot. The georgette coat, with collar of beige fox fur or knotted ostrich feather, was distinctly in favour. One coat of black net was a mass of oriental embroidery in gay colours. A party of eight mannikins paraded across the lawn, all in the smartest of navy blue. The frocks were longer, more fluid of line, with either long fringed capes or trailing draperies of some kind. The hats were all brimless helmets, some of, which had incorporated that sensible idea of a band of straw embroidery for ventilation. The mannikins carried small sushades alike, of copper-pink satin, bordered with navy blue velvet ribbon, a new note in sunshades. Of the simpler frocks, foulard is quite the rage, foulard and crepe de chine, of similar patterns, smalls mixed, aud mottled specks, spots, and tiny leaves. It is often difficult to distinguish foulard from crepe de chine at a distance, since they are using the same design for both materials. Small frills, accordion-pleated, and arranged in straight lines or in curves, trimmed the skirts. Black, white, na beige, and red seemed to predominate among the tones used. P.S.—Push you hat back a bit further.
