TO-DAY'S WEATHER. HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. Tlie following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied to us by Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:—Cloudy to overcast weather conditions aro indicated, with heavy general rains, districts between New Plymouth and Wellington being particularly uffoctcd. Northerly to north-westerly winds, strong to gale, backing to south-west, in places southward of East Cape, and strong north-westerly to south-westerly winds ruling in southern areas. Rough seas on the East Coast from East Cape to Cape Marja, but seas increasing shortly on the west coast of both islands. A disturbance of Antarctic character, with a pronounced westerly aspect, is advancing from tho Tasman Sea, and a spell of boisterous westerly weather is indicated, the South Island being especially affected. GOVERNMENT REPORT. Tho Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —A • depression still lies across tho Dominion. A rather intense anti-cyclone is centred near Hobart. Indications are for moderate to strong northerly winds north of Westport and Kaikoura, southorlies elsewhere, gradually extending northward. Seas rather rough in the Cook Strait region, but mainly moderate elsewhere. Moderate to fresh south-west to south-east winds and moderate seas in the eastern Tasman Sea. Weather cloudy and unsettled, with rain in most districts, but, only scattered in tho South Island. Cold temperatures in the' south and extending gradually to more northern districts.
