SUPPRESSION OF FIRE.
TE AROHA MOUNTAIN.
COUNCIL'S CLAIM ON RESIDENT
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TE AROHA, Friday.
The Te Aroha Borough Council this week forwarded a claim to Mr. P. Baino for £65 for the cost of suppression and for damage occasioned by a fire on the I'e Aroha Mountain earlier in the year, when tho Mayor, Mr. R. Coulter, called out all tho citizens to fight the flames, which threatened to envelope the town.
The council alleges that Mr. Baino's employees were responsible for the outbreak, by allowing a local fire to get out of control. The amount claimed represents loss of revenue through the dislocation of the electric light service, the cost of replacement of the service, and of repairs to the water pipe line, and wages paid in fighting the outbreak.
