ASSESSING FIRE DAMAGE.
ALLEGED UNDUE DELAY. COMPLAINT MADE BY BOARD. [bi* telegraph.—own correspondent.] TE AKOHA, ' Friday. At the quarterly meeting of the To Aioha Fire Board, Mr. Skegg (Auckland) protested against the high cost of caring for the ruins of burned dwellings, pending the arrival ot assessors of the damage for the insurance companies. He said the Underwriters' Association was concerned at the mounting cost of such charges in Auckland. Superintendent Pilkington said the association and the insurance companies had only themselves to blame for such charges, owing to the delay in despatching assessors to the scenes of fires.
