FACTORY AVERAGES FOR MAY.

[BY! TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON. Friday. Following are the grading averages of the New Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company's produce for the month of May, as graded at the cool stores for export, including local factory sales:—

CANTERBURY MARKETS. POTATO PRICES UNCHANGED. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.O CHRISTCHUHCH, Friday. The rise in the potato market has ceased, and values remain at Recent reported levels. Some sales of July deliveries have been made at £6 ss, f.o.b. s.i., but sellers generally are asking £6 7s 6d. . August-September deliveries are quoted at £6 12s 6d. Wues on trucks remain at £5 a ton; The Katoa, which sailed ' for Auckland in the mid-week, took 4950 sacks in addition to 2700 from Timaru. The Waitomo is to leave on July 4.

There is little business as far as the export of oats to Britain is concerned, but there has been a minor development in other respects. A sale of B gartons was made to Australia to-day on a. basis of 3s 9d f.0.b., s.i., the first sale of white oats this season to the Commonwealth. There ha 3 also been a slight revival of export to Australia in Algerians, which will be shipped by the Waikouaiti in a few days. The Australian business in Algerians has been done on a basis of 3s 7d a bushel, f.o.b. s.i., or 2s lOd on trucks for good heavy sample. Wheat remains unchanged. There is so much wheat of a secondary milling standard that most of the purchases are of this class at 5s 3d to 5s 6d on trucks. Good milling is unchanged at 5s 8(1. White clover, dressed, is quoted at 140s to 150s a cwt., or 12d to 13d a lb. on trucks. Cowgrass is difficult of sale. Dressed is quoted at up to 112s a cwt., or 7£d to a lb. on trucks. Cocksfoot is quoted at 13d a lb., for standard seed or 8d on trucks. Perennial ryegrass is worth 5s 6d to 5s 9d a bushel, f.o.b. sd., or 4s on trucks, and Italian to 4s 6d, or 3s on trucks. . Fescue is wwth Stocks in the South are being rapidly absorbed for export to America. Onions are showing a further weakness, prices casing to £9 a ton.

STOCK SALES. PRICES AT TE AWAMCTU. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., Hamilton, report■-At Te Awamutu sale on Thursday we penned beef in full supply, with a good entry of store cattle and springers, sheep and pigs. Beef sold under brisk competition at full ruling rates and a steady demand existed for store cattle and sheep. We quote: Fat steel's, £9 17s to £lO 15s; heavy fat cows, £9 17s to £lO 14s; medium weights, £7 17s tkl to £9; lighter, £6 10s to £7 12s 6d; unfinished cows, £5 2s 6d to £5 17s; boner cows, £3 to £5; yearling steers, £3 6s; yearling Friesian heifers, £3 to £3 2s Gd; Jerseycross heifers, £2 to £2 16s. Fat hoggets, £1 13s to £2 3s; fat wethers, £1 16s to £1 18s; fat ewes, £1 10s 6d; ewe hoggets, £1 9s; f.m. ewes in lamb. £1 9s 6d. Pigs, good stores, £1 6s to £1 12s; slips, 15s to 19s; weaners, 6s 6d to 10s.

DAIRY COWS AT TAUHEI. The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Ltd., report having held a clearing sale on account of Mr. \V. Noton, Tauhei, on Thursday, when his whole herd of 75 cows were sold under the hammer. Quotations: Shorthorn Jersey-cross cows, close to profit, £lO 10s to £l2; Shorthorn cows, £9 15s to £lls 5; backward cows, £7 5s to £8 10s; cows in milk, £4 5s to £7; heifers, Shorthorn-Jersey cross, £6 ss; others, £4 53 to £4 15s; yearlings, £2 13s to £2 18s.

PRICES AT FEILDING. [BY TELEGRAM!. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.!] FEILDING. Friday. At the stock sale to-day there was a medium entry of about 8000 sheep. These consisted mainly of breeding ewes, fat sheep and iambs. Ail classes of fat sheep met with a ready demand and sold well up to late rates. The breeding ewes were perhaps hardly up to the quality of the late offerings, but they sold well up to late rates, taking condition into account. A well-bred line of 51 two-tooth to four-year-old ewes running with Southdown ranis sold at 38s Gd. Other prices were: tat lambs, 26s to 38s 6d; fat ewes 27s 7d to 31s 4d; fat wethers, 29s to 40s 3d; fat woolly whitefaced lambs, 39s Id to 41s; four and fiveyear ewes with Southdown rams, 27s Gd to 33s Sd: empty ewes, 16s Id to 19s; blackfaced lambs. 15s 6d to 17s 7d;-five-year ewes with Southdown rams, 24s 9d to *B3 2d- four-tooth to five-year ewes running with Romney rams, 335; four-tooth to four-year ewes with Southdown rams, 32s 9<l to 3os Gd; two to six-tooth ewes wuh Soutndown rams, 38s Gd; ewe hoggets, 80s to 38ai 4d; two-tooth wethers, 29s lOd; stud Southdown ewes, 4gns; four and five-year Southdown ewes', Signs; four-year, sgns. There was a medium entry of cattle, btore cattle and fat cows were considerably easier. The dairy stock offered was not of hich quality, being mostly second grade, and sold at a par with late rates.
