BUTTER MARKET STEADY. NEW ZEALAND 176s TO 178s. Australian Press Association—United Service (Received June 29, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, June 28. The butter market is quiet and steady. Danish is quoted at 172s to 1745; choicest salted, New Zealand, 176s to 178s; Australian, 164s to 168s; unsalted, New Zealand, 180s to 1765; Australian, 166s to 170s. The cheese market is firm. New Zealand is quoted at 105s to 106s; Australian, 103s. REPORTS FROM MERCHANTS. FIRMNESS OF CHEESE MARKET. , Norden and Company, Limited, received the following cablegram from Andrew Clement and Sons, Limited, London, dated June 28:—Butter: Salted, 178s (f.o.b. equivalent, Is 5.33 d); unsalted, 182s (f.o.b. equivalent, Is 5.74 d). The market is quiet. Cheese: White and coloured, 106s (f.o.b. equivalent, 9.65 d). The market is firm. The Somerset, Zealandic, Ivia Ora and Mamari liavo arrived.

Dalgety and Company, Limited, received the following cablegram, dated June 28, from their London houso:— Butter: Now Zealand finest salted. 174s to 178s; Danish, 174s to 1765; Australian finest salted, 164s to 168s; unsalted, 166s to 170s. FROZEN MEAT VALUES. LONDON MARKET REPORTS. Dalgety anrl Company, Ltd., received the following cablegram from their London house, dated June 28: —The market for lamb and mutton is weak, with a downward tendency. The frozen beef market is very firm.

MARKET REPORTS. FRUIT AND PRODUCE PRICES. A noteworthy feature at the Auckland city markets fruit sales yesterday "was the exceptional dullness of apple sales. The prices realised will return practically nothing to the grower after all charges have been met. The field produce market was again heavily supplied with all lines of vegetables, and there was a fair demand. The pens were well filled at the poultry market, and the demand improved. There was no variation in dairy i produce prices. Pears were also very dull of sale, and i prices- for Nelis and Coles bad fallen 6cl |to 3s, and for Clairgeaus Is a case. Hothouse tomatoes were 25 per cent, lower than last week, outdoors also wcro Is to ,3s a case cheaper, but Island tomatoes remained much ' the same. Tree tomatoes were Is to 2s dearer, and ripe bananas were also a little higher. Island oranges again gained a little in value, but the inquiry for lemons remained good and prices rose Is to 2s. Hothouse grapes realised up to 2s 6d per lb. or even higher for extra choice samples, being 6d to Is per lb. dearer. .Very heavy supplies of pumpkins and onions characterised the field produce sales, onions falling 2s per cwt. Cabbages were Is to 2s a sack dearer, but cauliflowers eased a little. Rhubarb fell 3d, and root crops and leeks were a little cheaper. Potatoes and kumaras hardened a little, and spring onions were up 2d a bundle.

Poultry prices were better all round, prime cockerels realising 6d to Is more than last week. Roosters and hens were also up 3d to 6d, and best quality pullets fetched up to 7s 6d. Ducks were 6d to Is dearer, but guinea-fowls fell Is. Dairy pi-oduco was well supplied, and the demand was fair. Prices for pggs and for farmers' butter remained steady. FIELD PRODUCE. PRODUCE IN DUNEDIN. [BY telecrapii.— own correspondent.] DUNEDIN, Friday. The wheat market is quiet and millers are fully stocked, the only sales recently made being of exceptionally good quality. There is no change in the quotations'. Merchants have experienced a quiot week in oats and practically no inquiries have been received. Sellers are still quoting 4s 2d a bushel, f.o.b. s.i., for A grade and 3s 9d for B grade, and full supplies at these prices are available. Best quality chaff is worth £5 10s per ton, sacks extra, ex trucks, with full supplies available in stores. The potato market is firmer and the current price in Dunedin is £6 per ton, sacks included, ex store.
