EFFORTS OF RESCUERS.
FOG CREATES HINDRANCE. AIRMEN FACE GREAT RISKS. United Service. LONDON, June 17. A copyright message from Kings Bay, Spitsbergen, says the ,steamer Braganza rounded the dreaded Capo North after laboriously forcing her way through tho ice. Sho will remain for* an indefinite period in that position as tho base of a larger expedition which will bo landed as soon as tho fog has lifted. The steamer Hobby is close behind tho Braganza and will probably return to Kings Bay for supplies and equipment. The fog is exasperatingly thick. At first it prevented Captain Riiser Larsen and Lieutenant Holm from starting on their flight to the rescue of tho three members of tho crew of tho Italia who set out several days ago from General Nobili's camp to walk across the ice. Finally, however, both airmen made flights. The visibility was poor and their search was without result. There is now no possibility of sending out tho equipment for which General Nobili asked last week until the arrival of the Italian airman, Commandant Maddalena. He is expected at Kings Bay this afternoon from Vadso, Norway.
