WIMBLEDON JOKE.
WRONG CUP PRESENTED. RIGHT ONE LEFT IN AMERICA. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. (Received June 18, S.'2o p.m.) LONDON. June 18. The Daily Chronicle says tho greatest joke yet known in connection with tennis at Wimbledon concerns the cup presented to the British women's team on Saturday, It was not tho real Wightman Cup but a substitute. The reason of this was that the American team had forgotten to bring the real cup to England. Miss Harvey, the British captain, says the suggestion that the Americans were so certain they were going to win that they did not trouble to bring the cup with them is absurd. They are a charming sporting team, she says, and they left the cup in America owing to a misunderstanding. It will be sent to England shortly.
