ITALY AND AUSTRALIA.
NO MIGRATION AGREEMENT. FOREIGN OFFICE STATEMENT. Australian and N.Z. Press Association. LONDON, June 1. The Kome correspondent of the British United Press Association says there is some mystification in the Italian capital as to the announcement of the Prime Minister of Australia, Mr. Bruce, of an agreement with Italy to limit migrants from the latter country to 5000 in the 12 months. The Director of the Foreign Office said no negotiations were proceeding, much less was there any agreement. Italy was still restricting emigration to Italian colonies or the Mediterranean, and at present was granting less than 250 visas a month to migrants to Australia, and then only when employment was assured there.
