MIGRATION TO CANADA.

FAMILIES FROM BRITAIN. SUCCESS OF THE SCHEME. (Received June 3, 5.55 p.m.) British Wireless. RUGBY. June 2. There has just been completed a joint enterprise of the British and Canadian Governments which was started three years ago for assisting the emigration of entire families from Britain to Canada. The object was to send out to Canada 3000 families to settle on the land. The British Government contributed £3OO per family on advantageous terms, the Canadian authorities providing the necessary equipment and after-care. Only a very small fraction of the total emigrants have failed to make good. Considering" the experiment to have proved successful the two Governments are now discussing arrangements for its application to 2000 more families. It is proposed to send them to the western provinces of Canada. Of the families already settled under the scheme more than 1700 members had had some agricultural experience. Of the remainder 370 were artisans, 263 were general labourers and 552 were miners.
