Pork, demand very limited owing to hot weather. MARKET REPORTS. FARM AND PRODUCE PRICES. The outstanding feature of yesterday s I fruit sales at the Auckland City Markets was the small demand for local fruit. Both apples and peSrs show a decline in value on the sales earlier in the week. Local lemons met with a very poor demand at lower rates than have been ruling latelv. Fair sales were made in tomatoes and passion fruit, at rates that "have suffered little variation. There was an unsatisfactory demand for tree tomatoes. Eggs did not bring such good prices as they did at the sales on Tuesday, but supplies were fair and the demand was moderate. Farmers' butter, which sold at the steady rate of Is to Is 3d a pound, was in good demand with supplies moderate. All vegetables were in good supply, but there was an over-supply of citron melons, celery and lettuce. The demand was fair. The sale of poultry was much larger than usual, with a consequent small falling-off of prices. The pens were full. The general slackness in the fruit section accounted for a small reduction on the rates of last Tuesday for apples and pears. Delicious apples brought Is a case less, while in the pear section a slight reduction was recorded in most grades. Tomatoes and tree tomatoes have fluctuated slightly in the poorer grades, while Rarotongan tomatoes commanded 5s to 7s. Persimmons are cheaper than they have been lately, and show a drop of 6d to Is on last Tuesday's rates. Grapes show little variation, with the exception of Svdney Whites, which are Is 6d a case' cheaper. An offering of Association' pack, cured lemons, which brought 16s to 22s a case, were of much higher grade than the local tree-ripe lines, which were 2s cheaper than last Tuesday's sale. The island oranges, which have recently come on tho market. brought 14s to 16s. The over-supply of citron melons, celery and lettuce caused considerable reductions in these lines. Southern onions were dearer. Pumpkins commanded better prices than on Tuesday, and bestquality Triumble were 12s 6d to 13s 6d a cwt. The large number of birds offering in the poultry section caused a slight fall-ing-off in some lines. Prime heavy cockerels were 6d cheaper. Pullets in both the heavy and lines were slightly dearer". Most lines have altered little since last Friday's sale. Eggs show an all-round reduction of Id to 2d a dozen on last Tuesday's sale, although the demand was moderate.
