The sum of £6460 was paid out by the Tauranga Co-operativfs Dairy Association to suppliers for the month of April, payment being at the rate of Is 4d per lb. butter-fat. AMERICAN GOLD EXPORT. In spite of the announcement that £3,000,000 more in gold would .be exported to London, with an intimation that subsequent withdrawals would be considerably greater, the sterling exchange' remained firm at about 4.88 3-8 dollars for cable transfers. In some . banking circles it was said that the movement of gold from New York to London might reach £20,000,000 in connection with the plan for the fusion .of the British note issues. Wheat.—May, 1 dollar 47i cents per bushel; July, 1 dollar 49£ cents; September, 1 doliar 50 1-8 cents; December, 1 dollar 52i cents. MARKET REPORTS. FRUIT AND PRODUCE PRICES. The main feature of the fruit sales at the Auckland city markets yesterday was a decided shortage of oranges, only one variety being offered. However, the shortage should be relieved on Thursday by the arrival of a shipment from Rarotonga. Green peas appeared at the field produce markets for the first time for several weeks, the quality, however, not being good. No cucumbers were offered. Eggs were again cheaper at the dairy produce sales, while steady prices ruled for farmers' butter. Large quantities of apples were offered for sale, the demand, especially for cookers, being dull. Prices showed a falling tendency, Ballarats being 6d and Pigeonettes Is to 2s a case cheaper. Many linos of Coles pears were offered in a wet condition and realised Is to Is 6d less than on Friday. Tomatoes, tree tomatoes, lemons and persimmons were sold at the same prices as last week. Choice Colman hothouse grapes were again 3d per lb. dearer. Bananas were from 5s to 6s a case dearer, but mandarins fetched Is less. Only one variety of oranges, American Valencias, was offered, fetching prices much the same as last week. The shipment of oranges arriving from Rarotonga on Thursday will come to a bare market. The supply of onions was poor, prices realised for Southern supplies being Is to Is 6d per cwt. more and for local supplies 3s to 3s 6d more. Lettuces were again cheaper, as were cabbages, rhubarb and spring onions. Celery and vegetable marrows were dearer, but other vegetables remained at a steady price. inferior grade of green peas was offered for sale, fetching from 4d to 6d per lb. Hen eggs and duck eggs were Id a dozen less than last week, and pullet eggs were 2d to 3d less. Both the supply and the demand were moderate. Farmers' butter remained at a steady price.
