RICHMOND CRUISING CLUB. DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES. The Richmond Cruising Club held its annual distribution of prizes and dance in the I'onsonby Hall last evening. There was a largo attendance of members and visitors from the various yacht and launch clubs. The prizes made a. good showing and attracted a great deal of attention. Included in the trophy-list were several coils of rope, paints, brushes, sidelights, barometers, clocks, oars and rowlocks, the total value being .£SO. In addition, £36 was paid out in cash prizes. In extending a welcome to the visitors, the commodore, Mr. T. L. Thompson, said the club had held five events during the past season, and all had been very keenly contested. In several races only seconds had separated the placed boats, which reflected much credit on the handicappera. The season had been an exceptionally good one, from a yachting standpoint, and every advantage of the sumrqer time measure had been availed of by yachtsmen. Ho specially wished to congratulate the two lady owners of the 16-footer Tulip in sailing their boat to victory in one of the races, and wished them further success next season, iln the absence of the patron, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, the prizes were distributed by the president, Mr. .7. Donald. He said it was gratifying to know that among those present were 12 of the founder members of the club, and they were always willing to assist the younger hands in conducting its affairs. Mr. Donald also congratulated the officers and members of the club on its continued success. The remainder of the evening was devoted to duncing, which was kept up until a late hour.
