POWER AREA TRANSFER.
EXCEPTION TO SUGGESTION. " PIECE OF COLOSSAL CHEEK." Strong exception to the suggestion made by Mr. L. A. Eady, a member of the Auckland City Council, before the Auckland Transport Commission, that Henderson, Glen Eden and New Lynn should be placed under the jurisdiction of the Auckland Power Board was expressed at a meeting of the Waitemata Power Board yesterday. The chairman, Mr. J. W. Hay den, said the suggestion had been made quite seriously that the Auckland Power Board should have control of all transport services involving a supply of electricity, and that in addition a large proportion of the Waitemata Power Board's area should be transferred. " I think the suggestion is monstrous and is nothing more or less than a piece of colossal cheek," Mr. Hayden said. "It would mean that our annual revenue would be decreased by £15,000." He suggested the secretary should write to the chairman of the commission and point out the board's strong opposition to Mr. Eady's proposals, and also state that evidence would be uiven by the chairman of the board if required. Mr. W. R. T. Leighton agreed the board should communicate with the chairman of the commission. Any alteration of the board's area on the lines suggested would be a distinct disadvantage, and would also involve a heavy annual loss. After further discussion, it was decided to write to the chairman of tho commission on the lines suggested. '
