LADIES' NIGHT.
A very pleasant and enjoyable event was the annual ladies' night held by the Auckland Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen's Association in the clubrooms on Saturday evening. _ The decorations were simply and efiectively carried out with hanging baskets of ferns suspended from the ceiling. The president of the club, Mr. W. Prentis. presided, and in a brief speech welcomed the ladies who were present. The first part of the evening took the form of a concert, when some of the members of the club's concert party gave items. Under the organisation of Mr. H. G. Watts, the concert party travels to country towns at various times of the year and gives concerts, the proceeds being donated to the local hospital. Miss D. Youd, Miss M. Williamson, Mr. J. Church, Mr. Dudley Wrathall and Mr. H. G. Watts sang several songs, Mr. Rex Yates contributed humorous items, and Mrs. Watts was accompanist. Choruses and topical numbers were also given by the company. Other items contributed by members of the club consisted of songs by Mrs. H. Dee, Mr. J. Williams, Mr. Littler, Mr. Allen and Mr. J. Stewart, and humorous recitations by Mr. D. Weir and Mr. G. Tollerton. Miss Gwenda Weir and Mr. A. Saunders were accompanists. Supper was served in rooms downstairs and in the lounge, after which dancing took place to the strains of excellent music.
