AN AT HOME.

A very enjoyable occasion was the "At Home" which was held by the commodore and members of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron on Saturday afternoon. The club rooms had been effectively decorated with palms, flowers and foliage, and an orchestra played the latest popular music. Of interest to the visitors were the many trophies belonging to the squadron, which were displayed in a case in the billiard room, and of almost- equal interest were the photographs which adorned the walls of the smoking-room. Through the windows, which commanded a wonderfully fine view, could be seen the harbour waters, tossed and sullen-looking with Rangitoto in the background, half hidden by driving rain. Tea was served in the dining-room. The tablti had. been very effectively arranged with dee;) yellow Iceland poppies in silver tropby bowls, violets, yellow chrysanthemum;; jyid delphiniums, with a model of a yacht in full sail, banked with foliage and chrysanthemums, occupying the centre. For this artistic feat three of the members wore responsible. Later in the afternoon dancing and other amusements took place in the billiard room. Commodore John Frater and Mrs, Frater received the guests, the latter wearing a grey ensemble and grey hat, with a fur to match. Among the guests were Mrs. P.
