USE OF TRAM TICKET.
SCHOOLBOY'S CONCESSIONS. WARNING BY THE MAGISTRATE. As a warning to boys who ride to work in trams, using a schoolboy's concession ticket, the Tramways Department brought a case against a boy in the Children's Court on Saturday. He was charged with using a tram ticket when it was not available. An inspector said he was checking a car bound from Heme Bay to the city at 7.30 one morning, and the boy presented a schoolboy's concession card. He admitted he was going to work. The ticket was available only if the user was going to or from school or night school. The conditions of issue were cleairly marked on the cards. The boy said he was going to night school that night. The Magistrate, Mr. E. C. Cutten: You thought you were able to use the ticket because you were going to school that night. You acted under a mistake. It was stated the Tramways Department did not press for a fine. A severe warning was all that was requested, to act as a deterrent for the future. " Boys have no right to use thess tickets when they are going to work," said the magistrate. " The present cass will be dismissed. In any future cases the offenders will not only be ordered to pay the costs, but also more severe measures will be taken.' -
