PRESENTATIONS.
POLICE FORCE PROMOTIONS. Presentations were made on Saturday evening by the staff of tho Newmarket, police station to Constable C. W. Powell and Constable A. White, who are on transfer on promotion to the Pukekohe and Thames stations respectively. Sergeant Rock congratulated the constables on their promotion, stating that their tact and commonsense would, no doubt, go a long way in making for their future success. The staff was pleased to see the department had recognised their worth in offering the promotions. Constable Powell was presented with a case of pipes, and Constable White with a gold-mounted fountain pen. Sergeant E. Burnett, who has been in charge of the Coromandel police station for three years, and who has been transferred to Auckland, was, .with Mrs. Burnett, tendered a farewell social by residents of Coromandel on Friday evening. On behalf of the district. Mr. J. W. Barker presented Sergeant Burnett with a cheque, and spoke of his courtesy, efficiency and impartiality in the execution of his duties. I I
