ALTERATIONS TO SCHOOLS.
EXTENDING ACCOMMODATION GRANT EXPECTED SHORTLY. As the result of representations made by the Auckland Education Board pointing out the necessity for enlarging the accommodation at a large number of schools where two teachers have to take their classes in one schoolroom, the Education Department last week sent its supervising architect, Mr. It. Savage, to investigate the position and to confer with the board's officers. Measures for alterations and additions to some 20 schools have been agreed upon, and the board expects to receive advice of a Government grant within the next few days, whereupon the work wil bo commenced immediately.
