ROAD TO MURIWAI.
Sir, —I wish to join Mr. Blanchfield and Mr. Jonkers in the chorus, "We'll take the short road" to Muriwai. I also agree with them that the only way' to get this shorter route to Muriwai is through the Waitakeres, and of all those proposed there is only one route worth considering, which is as follows: Leaving the main road at Swanson, take the easy graded Swanson-Wesfc Coast Road, which, for a considerable distance, runs along the Auckland City Council's Pukematakeo kauri forest and beautiful scenic park, thence through the Waitakere Valley, crossing the Waitakere River near O'Neil's farm, and from there across Makoroa Stream through Motu.tara Estate "to Muriwai. This route would bring the settlers in this country 10„miles nearer the city. There is about three miles only of new road which would have io.be formed to complete this road to -Muriwai, and it would shorten the present Anck-land-Mcriwai road by over eight miles, which means that Auckland motorists would save over 16 miles on every trip from Auckland to Muriwai and back to Auckland. This road would run through the Waitemata County Council's quarry reserve, which contains the finest roadmetal in the Auckland Province. Motorist.
