THREE BURGLARIES.
RAILWAY STATION ENTERED. KUMEU POST OFFICE THEFT. Burglars entered Copeland's grocery shop, Dominion Road, on Saturday evening, and stole a small quantity of cigarettes. Entrance was gained through the rear of the premises. *
Forcing a sliding window dividing the railway office from the waiting room, thieves entered the Waitakere station building on Friday night. A few shillings were taken.
The Kumeti post office was entered by burglars between nine o'clock on Friday evening and seven o'clock on Saturday morning. An attempt was evidently made to open the safe, but without success. The state of disorder of the office indicated that it had been ransacked. A quantity of mail in the pigeon holes had been opened and the contents taken out. A number of crossed cheques were left lying about the office. The actual loss will not be known for a few days. Owing to the fact that most of the settlers are served by the rural njail service and only one inward mail was undelivered, (ho amount of mail was not large.
