DEVONPORT COUNCIL.
The Devonport Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. E. Aldridge, presiding. A grant of £3 3s to the Workers' Educational Association was authorised. The council declined to grant assistance to the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture for the purpose of purchasing a portion of the Waimauku Bush. An offer at £2500 of a section at the corner of Victoria Road and Kerr Street as a site for a library and town hall was declined. It was derided to give urgent attention to the adequate disposal of stormwater in Hinemoa Avenue and vicinity. The. engineer was authorised to prepare an estimate regarding the expendittire of £62 held by the ladies' croquet club, for levelling and grassing a croquet ground at Stanley Bay Park*
