DEVONPORT COUNCIL.

The Devonport Borough Council met last evening, the Mayor, Mr. E. Aldridge, presiding. A grant of £3 3s to the Workers' Educational Association was authorised. The council declined to grant assistance to the New Zealand Institute of Horticulture for the purpose of purchasing a portion of the Waimauku Bush. An offer at £2500 of a section at the corner of Victoria Road and Kerr Street as a site for a library and town hall was declined. It was derided to give urgent attention to the adequate disposal of stormwater in Hinemoa Avenue and vicinity.
