PRESENTATIONS.
In appreciation of his services &s country adviser to the South Auckland Rugby Union fftr the past eight years, Mr. T. H. Patterson, senior Instructor of Agriculture in Auckland, who is leaving shortly to take up an appointment in Australia, has been presented with an inscribed silver cigarette case. Mr. J. Dean, president of the union, in making the presentation on behalf of the management committee, referred to the valuable work in the interests of the game done by Mr. Patterson in the consolidation of the sub-unions throughout the district.
A presentation of a travelling rug was made at a gathering at Hamilton to Mr. R. T. Roid, for some years president of the Waikato Trotting Club, by members of the club. Mr. Reid resigned his position on being appointed a stipendiary steward to the New Zealand Trotting Conference. Mr. Reid's services to trotting in the Waikato were eulogised by several speakers. Presentations from the subscribers to the Leys Institute Library were made at the annual meeting last evening to the librarian, Mr. J. Norrie, and Mrs. Norrie, the former having been appointed chief librarian in Wellington. The president, Mr. W. Cecil Leys, in presenting Mr. Norrie with an engraved inkstand and Mrs. Norrie with a fruit bowl, referred to the excellent work both had done at the institute during the past four years. Both were largely responsible for the present popularity of the library which was greater than had been the case for some years. A fountain pen was also piresented to Mr. Norrie by the members of the recently-formed institute orchestra, reference being made to the efforts Mr. Norrie had made on its behalf.
