SERIOUS CHARGE MADE.
DALMATIAN IN COURT. [BY TEIiEGRAFH.-PB.ESS association.] DARGAVILLE, Monday. At the Dargaville Police Court to-day, before Messrs. F. A. Jones and F. J. Dargaville, J.P.'s, Jako Shandondich, a Dalmatian storekeeper, of Aratapu, was charged with rape and attempted rape on a married woman of the settlement. After lengthy evidence had been heard accused pleaded not guilty aid reserved his defence. He was committed for trial at the next sitting of the Supreme Court at Auckland.
