UNITED POLITICAL PARTY.
ALLEGIANCE OF MR. VEITCH,
[liY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] "WELLINGTON, Tuesday.
The organiser of the United New Zealand Political Organisation, Mr. A. E. Davy, stated yesterday that Mr. W. A. Veitcli, M.P., had accepted the invitaticfn extended to him tc link up with the United Party. Mr. Veitch, he said, aame in as leader of a Liberal section and would issue immediately a comprehensive statement regarding the position. Supplementing Mr. Davy's announcement a statement has been received from Mr. Veitch. "The shortcomings of the Coates Government," he says, "have destroyed confidence in it, and as a consequence there has beeu a decided movement among all shades of political opinion. Tho United Political Organisation has been formed to combine all these elements into one concrete body, thus securing mutual support, simplifying tho selection of candidates and avoiding that conflict of effort which would certainly arise if several organisations wove working independently for the same purpose. This arrangement will enable the Liberal section to further its constructive policy and co-ordinate in its efforts while conserving its principles. "There are many staunch Liberals in the organisation now, and in taking this step I am answering not only a call but a clamour for action. I earnestly invite Liberals throughout the country to loin up with the United New Zealand Political Organisation and thus further the earnest efforts that are being made to secure a necessary change of Government in the best interests of the people."
