FIRE DESTROYS HOUSE.
FAMILY'S NARROW ESCAPE.
LITTLE OF VALUE SAVED.

A five-roomed house in Boundary Road East, outside tho borough boundary, was destroyed by fire this morning. The ocMr. and Mrs. Morgan, and their family, were awakened by smoke at five o'clock, and barely had time to escape. Little of value was "saved:- The outbuildings were prevented from destruction by the use of the house water supply.
TWO ROOMS DAMAGED. RESIDENCE IN FONSONBY. The city fire brigade received a call at 10.30 last evening to a six-roomed house in Islington Street, Ponsonby, owned and occupied by Mr. Cash. The brigade effected a smart save, only two rooms being damaged.
EARLY MORNING OUTBREAK.
FLAMES QUICKLY SUPPRESSED. Slight damage was caused to a fourroomed house, ovrned and occupied by Mr. W. North, in Michaels' Avenue, Ellerslie, by an outbreak of fire at an early hour yesterday morning. The fire originated near a chimney, and the flames had just begun to attack the outside wall when the fire was discovered. The Ellerslie brigade was quickly on the scene and extinguished the blaze without difficulty, the only damage being to tho flooring and the wall partitions near the chimney.
