WARREN HASTINGS.
'A correspondent has sent to the London Times quotations from letters written by Warren Hastings which he recently acquired. Among them is an epigrammatic verse written by Hastings. This, according to a note left by fcho recipient of the letters, was written by " Mr. H. while he was sitting at the bar of the House of Lords under his impeachment." The text is as follows:
Oft have I v.-onder'd that, on Irish Ground, No poisonous reptiles ever yet were found; Keveal'd the secret stands of Nature's
Work! She saved her v«nom to create a Burke.
Burke was one of the " managers" for the House of Commons at the impeachment of Warren Hastings.
