BY PHAETON. The winning sires' list in Australia cmbracing the first two Btages of the present season up to January 31 have been published, and these show that Cyklon (by Spearmint) heads the list with £28,642, and then follow Valais (dead) £21,890 and Magpie £17,104. Cyklon'g position at the head of the list with such a fine total can appropriately be referred to as a wonderful rise to fame, for the total sum won by Ms descendants during the whole of last -season amounted to only £8631. With a very doughty son to represent him in the shape of Trivalve, Carbine's grandson is pretty sure of being retained in the leading position on the sires' list, and that, too, with a very considerable margin in his favour so far as this season's racing in Australia is concerned. PAKURANGA HUNT. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The > annual meeting of members of the Pakurauga Hunt was held yesterday, the master, Mr. H. Bui lock-Webster, presiding over a fair attendance. The report and balance-sheet, as published iin the Herald on February 29, were adopted. A' suggestion from the Hunt Committee that members' subscriptions should be raised by £1 Is provoked a good deal of discussion. It was resolved that the subscriptions should remain the same as last year. The following officers were elected:—Patron, the Governor-General. Sir Charles Fergussooi; president, the Prime Minister. Mr. Coates; vice-presidents. Sir Frederic Lang. Messrs M. Buckland, G. Baildon and F. Earl, K.C,; master, Mr. H. Bullock-Webster; deputy-master. Dr. A. M. Grant; Hunt Committee, Messrs. J. Adnms. B.
