FRANKLIN RACING CLUB.

TO-DAY'S PROGRAMME. The Franklin Racing C'lub will inaugurate its annual race meeting to-day and it should only require fine weather to ensure a. capital day's sport at Pukekohe, and, with special train arrangements, racegoers may be expected to contribute to a record attendance at the popular country district. The following is a list of the acceptances for the various events:

REVIEW OF THE FIELDS BY ARCHER. The, Bombay Handicap will be run in two divisions, dtridends to be paid only on the winner of each divisioji. There ore a number of possibilities in both heats srd fancies may take a fairly wide range. Brilliant. Light, Wee Marble. Bombarder, and Storm Fiend are some that may find good Biipport.

Tho Puni High-weight Handicap has attracted a useful field and should provide a good race. The top-weight division is strong and the three horses at the head of the list, namely, Quincoma,, Bright Day end Urnlla, all have recent form to their credit. Wiltshire was a winner Is,si month and should possess a good chance, while of the others Harbour View and Ballachulish may be the most, likely. Bnllachulish has tot raced well this season, but, vrould only need to be at, bis best to be dangerous. Backers may follow form and support Quincoma, Uralla and Wiltshire. Some useful hacks figure on tho card for tho Buckland Back Handicap. The topweight pair, Winsome Boy and Modest Boy, are always likely in this class, and the improving Dress Circle is another with a chance. Then come a very likely pair in Appellant and Liaison. The latter is a good galloper, who has yet to ishow her best. Bright Dawn, Wee Marble and Welcome Home have raced creditably in their latest engagements and should run well, while on track form Restaurant is a possibility. The public may /avour the chances of Liaison, Appellant, and Welcome Homo. There are 11 acceptors for the, Franklin Cup, but there may be a few defections. It is unlikely that J. T. Jamieson will Tun both Eden Hall and Le Choucas. On recent form Eden Hall and Le Choucas must both possess excellent cfctnces and the stable elect will have a following. Desert Glow is considered a doubtful runner, but Gala Day is sure to go to the post and should make a bold showing, as he is very fit. Royal Doulton has been feeling the effects of a kick she received at Te Aroba. and it was decided yesterday not to start her. Sir Archie, wlbo has yet to win beyond a mile, and Princess Ronnie, have been galloping well, although the latter might need a race to> bring her to concert pitch. Unless ho has come on auickly since he had his last run, True Blood might not bo thoroughly attuned. Fit and well, he would be dangerous. The pick of the other light-weights is Corinax, an improving horse, who ha» demonstrated his ability to get the distance successfully. It should be a good betting race, with Le Choucas, Gala Day and Corinax in demand. Class is missing from the Waiuku Hack Handicap, although several of those engaged have shaped creditably in their latest engagements. Value, Dimmer and Bright Dawn have all recent form to recommend them and look the pick of the field, although Glenetta and Taksrunga. are possibilities. The public may give most support to Dimmer, Bright Dawn and Glenetta. A small field will con.teiit the Tuakaa Flying Handicap. The top-weight, Tea Time, is one of the most improved sprinters about and should require a lot of beating. Ballymoy 11. failed at her last start, but is very well and should go better in this field. The consistent Macroom and Prince Otto are likely to go good races, but the others do not appeal. Perhaps Tea Time and Ballymoy 11. may be the popular selections.

Though the field carded for the Onewhero Hack Handicap is moderate, most of those engaged have won a race or shown some form this season, the two exceptions being Salamander and Wee Puriri. The event bears an open aspect, but Schorr, Micrometer B.nd Dreaa Circle may find good impport. There is material for a good race in the Pukekohe Handicap. The top-weight pair, Ti Tree and Te Koroke, are consistent performers, with undoubted chances. King Merv is capable of running a solid seven furlongs when right, while his stable-mate, Archeen, has lately shown a return to form. Day Guard has not been racing well and in consequence has come down in the weights. Siaosi has been threatening to win for some time, but most of those lower down have been out of form lately. Ti Tree, Archeen and Te Koroke may be best fancied. . SECOND DAY'S EVENTS. The following is the programme of events at the Franklin meeting on Monday: Maiden Handicap (si* furlongs), Ramarama High-weight Handicap (li miles), Pu'.cekawti Hack Handicap (seven furlongs), Hassey Memorial Handicap (1 mile 1 fur.), Otaua Hack Handicap (five furlongs), Harrieville Plyiue Handicap (six furlongs), Paerata Hack Handicap (six furlongs), and Piesiftteotffr feerven fork>EßS^
