TWO DANGEROUS DOGS.
NEWMARKET PROSECUTIONS. Jumping at the throat of a traveller who recently visited the house of Frederick Fletcher, cycle dealer, Newmarket, a dog tore the coat-sleeve of the man as he raised his arm in defence. When charged in the Police Court yesterday with owning a dangerous dog, Fletcher pleaded not guilty on the ground the dog did not belong to him. "But the dog was in your place, and according to the salesman whom it bit the dog had been seen there before," said Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M. "You are therefore lesponsiblo for it. However, I will not fine you heavily. A penalty of 10s will meet the case." How a dog snapped at a passing telegraph messenger was told when Bessie Sloaman, of Newmarket, was also charged with owning a dangerous dog. "She will be fined 10s, too," the magistrate said
