DEATH UNDER ANAESTHETIC
SEQUEL TO CYCLE MISHAP.
RIDER THROWN ON FACE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. ] CHRISTCHtTRCH. Thursday. A cycling accident which ended fatally occurred last evening, when Mr. Richard Joughin, a married man, was thrown from his bicycle. Deceased, who was a signwriter, resided at Opawa. Mr. Joughin wa3 cycling homeward along St. Martin's Road when the forks of his bicycle broke and ho' was thrown on his face on the roadway. He left his broken bicycle at a house and- went home. He asserted that he was all right except that his nose had been hurt. Subsequently, his wife induced. him to go to the CRristchurch Hospital, where he was admitted at 11.45 p.m. An operation was performed to-day, but the patient died under the anaesthetic.
