ROWING.
INTERHOUSE FOURS RACE. WIN FOR MILNE AND CHOYCE. The third annual interhonse rowing race between the soft goods firms of the city was rowed over the course from Stanley Bay Wharf to the Devonport Wharf last evening. The water conditions were ideal, on a splendid uninterrupted course. Mr. A. M Wilson, of the Auckland Rowing Association, was judge, and the starting was by mutual concent. The crews were:— Milne and Choyce.—V. Smith (stroke), J. F. McCorkindnle (3), T. McCarthy (2), W. F. Swan (1). T. Organ (cox). George Court and Son.—F. F. Simmons (stroke), P. Piatt (3), V. J. Clark (2), T. J. Letts (1), G. Crawford (cox). John Court. Ltd.—R. Follas (stroke), M. Cooper (3). J Kilgour, H. Sinclair. The crews hit the water together, but Milne and Choyce quickly jumped ahead, closely followed by George Court's crew. Anproaching the Sheerlegs, Milne and Clioyce's four were two lengths in the lead. Rowing at 30 to the minute. Milne and Choyce cleared the warships with about four lengths' advantage. George Court's opened out about three lengths ahead of John Court's. The race then became a procession, omd Milne and Choyce went on to win in a runaway manner, with George Court's second, several lengths ahead of John Court's. The winners had the race in their keeping after the first two dozen strokes.
