BOWLING.
VETERANS' ASSOCIATION. THE ANNUAL REUNION HELD. The eleventh annual reunion of the Veteran Bowlers' Association was held on the Auckland bowling green yesterday, 12 rinks of veterans taking part. One rink of eight veterans aggregated 664 years of age. Just prior to the lunch adjournment, at 12.5 p.m., one of the members of the association, Mr. John Haalett, when in the act of playing, dropped dead. This naturally was a great shock to all, aoid, out of respect to deceased, play wa3 abandoned. The veterans passed a vote of condolence with his relatives in their sad bereavement.
The results of the games, were not taken, owing to the termination of tho play.
t .TOURNEY AT TE AWAMUTU. PILKINGTON DEFEATS BELL. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. J TE AWAMUTU. Thursday. The To Awamutu bowling tournament was completed to-day. When daylight failed yesterday, Pilkington (Hamilton) was 16 and Bell (Hamilton) 12, on the 14th head. Continued this morning in splandid weather the game ended in a tie, 20 all. The replay took place this afternoon, and a keen contest resulted in favour of Pilkington, 21—20. Each head was keenly contested, and highclass bowling was witmesscd. At the close of play both teams were enthusiastically cheered. This marks the first win in a Te Awamutu tournament for Pilkington. although he has tried many times. On three occasions he wa3 runner-up. The following players will represent Te Awamutu against Claudelands on Saturday at Claudelands:—Green, Jourdain. J. T. North, A. Christie, -Reese; C. Mclnncs, Tailby, G. Smith, A. S. Wallace; T. McLnnes, H. Dunklev. R. Laurie, W. J. North; Chittenden. G. Johnson, J. Hawkins, A. Ronnie. First-year players: E. W. McCarter, S. Haines, J. Sterritt. S. S. Preston. The Te Awamutu Club's team, R. Ross, A. G. Cruickshank, F. Bowdtin and R. Metcalfe, winners of King Country section, play at Hamilton on Saturday in the champion of champions tournament. W. J. North, of To Awamutu. singles champion, of the King Country section, plays to-morrow in the champion of champions singles tourney at Hamilton. THE PUKEKOHE CLUB.
